Introduction
The subject of my presentation is…
I’m going to divide my presentation into three sections.
My topic today is…
Using visuals
You can see from this chart that…
It is clear from this graph that…
If you look at this map, you’ll see that…
Changing direction or linking
The second question I’d like to discuss is…
Turning now to…
I’d now like to turn to…
That brings me to my next point….
Concluding
So, to remind you of what I’ve covered in this presentation, I started by saying… So, to sum up…
Asking for clarification
I’m afraid I didn’t follow your point
Could you go over what you said about…?
Could you explain what you meant when you said (that)…?
Could you give an example of…?
Could you expand a little on what you said about…?
Could you be more specific about…?
Style of Delivery:
• Reading from a script - what can the problems be?
• Speaking from notes - what are the advantages?
• If the audience is making notes, how should this affect your speed and style of delivery?
• Ensure that you provide links to alert the audience to changes of direction
• How can you ensure the audience can understand your pronunciation of certain words?

Giving a Presentation: handouts
Consider:
• Do you want to give a handout?
• When will you give out the handout?
• What does an audience do when given a handout?
• What will be on the handout? How will it be used?
• How many slides should be used in a 20 min. presentation?
• What information, and how much, should be on the slides?
How many slides should be used in a 20 min. presentation? 5 max
-What information, and how much, should be on the slides? Key words, questions for audience to reiterate main points: help them follow etc
NOT your analysis! Info not comment
-Don’t spend too much time being overly slick- keep it simple. Could you give presentation if computer broke down?

Format and font size: easy to see! Not a big complicated, dense table!!
