July 20th, Sunday
After the short flight from Madrid to London Heathrow, a coach was waiting for us to go to Sussex campus. Once we arrived here, they gave us our keys in the reception and we could see the nice rooms we had. Everything was clean and new as Stammer Court has been openned recently. We had dinner from a bending machine because all the shops and restaurants on campus were closed, and then we were chating for a while in one of the kitchens. Finally we went to bed, asking ourselves about how the classes would the next day.
July 21st, Monday
We have had a welcome meeting with Melanie Suppel and Tom Ottway, our teacher. Melanie has explained to us all the rules, the possible prblems, the emergencies and all the general aspects we have to bear in mind during the next two weeks.
The Tom has given us some information about the course, and after this we have had a personal presentation about our schools, our pedagogical experience, our students, etc
After the classes it was the perfect moment to go Brighton. We all liked it very much and find it is an amazing city, really lively and with lots of entertaining things to do.
July 22nd, Tuesday
Today we had a lecture with Jeremy Page about bilingualism. It was interesting but maybe there was too much theory to understand in just 45 minutes.
We’ve been dealing with computers as well, exploring new pedagogical web sites. I found most of them really useful , as they have lots and lots of resources we can use for any subject.
July 23rd, Wednesday
We have started the day with a lectures about the history of Brighton, carried out by Alexandra Loske. I have to say she was great. She explained us a lot of curious details, and everyting was visually supported. Then we had a tour around Brighton with Nicky, one of the social programme organisers.
July 24th, Thursday
Today we’ve learnt the “dictogloss” technique. None of us knew anything about it, so it was quite interesting for everybody . We did an example about marriage, but obviously we can addapt the dictogloss to young learners contents.
July 25th, Friday
We had an amazing morning with the “smartboard”. Now I can understand why children feel are so excited about writing on the blackboard. It’s a new experience for them. The interactive whiteboard has just fascinated me. You can use practically any resource you need with it. July 20th, Sunday
Weekend
Once again, I went to London for the weekend. I am just in love with the city. Even thought I ‘ve been there many times I never get tired of it.
